Search for TOESP and TOJHSS of Iloilo for AY 2018-2019 Starts


The Outstanding Students Circle of Iloilo (OSCI) is now accepting nominations to the Search for Ten Outstanding Elementary School Pupils (TOESP) and Ten Outstanding Junior High School Students (TOJHSS) of Iloilo for AY 2018-2019.

The Search, which is undertaken in partnership with the Department of Education (Divisions of Iloilo, Iloilo City and Passi City), is open to all public and private schools in the Province of Iloilo, Iloilo City, and Passi City. 

Nominations should be submitted not later than January 8, 2019 to the Division of Iloilo, and the Division of Iloilo City. Nomination forms are available from the Division of Schools offices or can be produced similar to the sample below. Only one nominee will be accepted from each school.

The following is the schedule for the screening and evaluation of nominees:

Search for TOESP and TOJHSS for 2018 is on!

The Outstanding Students Circle of Iloilo, through the Department of Education, is now accepting nominations for the Search for Ten Outstanding Elementary School Pupils (TOESP) and Ten Outstanding Junior High School Students (TOJHSS) of Iloilo.

Nomination folders must be submitted to the Department of Education Division (Divisions of Iloilo, Iloilo City, and Passi City) where the nominating school is under. Private schools can submit their nomination folders through the Office of DR. EDEN GILPO, Senior Education Specialist, School Governance and Operations, Division of Iloilo, La Paz, Iloilo City. Deadline of submission is on January 9, 2018.

Nominees must be Grade VI pupils for TOESP and Grade X students for TOJHSS.

Folders must include the following forms (or similar format) to be filled up by the nominees and validated by the head of the nominating schools:

On Form 3, the nominee lists the summary of his/her co-curricular activities, sorted by date, showing the name of the activity, sponsoring entity, venue, and date. Certified and signed copies of supporting documents pertaining to the awards, commendations, activities attended, positions held, achievements, etc. of the nominee must be attached. Attachments must be sorted the same way as the summary. The documents must have dates within the period January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017. OSCI reserves the right to disregard or reclassify documents; or ask a nominee/school to show the original documents if necessary.

2. Qualifications of nominees for the 10 Outstanding Elementary School Pupils and 10 Outstanding
             Junior High School Students of Iloilo awards
a)     Must be a Grade VI elementary school pupil or a Grade X junior high school student by
AY 2017-2018
b) A bonafide student of the nominating school
c) Must have participated or been awarded in, at least, a Congressional level activity which
      was not sponsored by the nominating school.
d) Of good moral and academic standing
e) Displays distinctive leadership qualities
f)  Exhibits meritorious service to his peers, school, and community
g) Participates in other worthwhile undertakings for the success and honor of his/her school or
    community
h) Serves as positive role model epitomizing the importance of hard and honest work

3. Selection Criteria

4. Mechanics
a) Participating school submits to the Department of Education (Division where the school is
    under) the personal data, academic grades, and list of co-curricular activities of the school
    nominee using standard forms.
b) Nomination forms are available from the Department of Education.
c) A school can have only one nominee.
d) A school can have its own criteria in selecting a nominee. Any questions as regards the
    school’s nominee or its selection process must be directed to and settled within the school.
    OSCI will not entertain questions or complaints in this regard.
e) Nominees collectively go to a specified place at a specified date for written examinations.
    OSCI formulates the test questions.
f) Screening committee of OSCI gives points to nominees’ academic achievements and
   co-curricular activities.
g) The top 15 with highest accumulated points are called back for final interview before a panel of
    judges. Candidates are interviewed based on questions and grading system designed by OSCI.
h) Final points are tallied. The results, after the deliberation of the Screening Committee, are final
    and  unappealable.
i) Official results are sent to the Department of Education.
j) Awardees are officially informed to receive their awards

TOESP Awarding Ceremony On March 17, 2017

The awarding ceremony for the Ten Outstanding Elementary School Pupils of Iloilo for the Academic Year 2016-2017 is on March 17, 2017, 1:00 pm, at the Educational Media Center (please see map), Central Philippine University, Jaro, Iloilo City. Attire for awardees is ‘Sunday best’ for ladies, and barong and black pants for gentlemen. The call time is 12:30 pm. 

Certificates of recognition to the coaches and to the schools of the awardees will also be given.

Schools are requested to bring their school flags and carriers to accompany the awardees during the processional. 



The Educational Media Center (EMC) is in the second floor of building #6.@
