This is the NEXT story.

That day, my friend and I were walking along the beach where countless of clams were scattered, left by the receding tide. Surely, it would not take long before the searing heat of the sun would kill the hapless clams. I started to pick up some and threw them back to the sea.

My friend noticed me. "What are you doing? What difference can you make? There are thousands of clams on the beach and you can't possibly return all of them to the sea!"

"I know," I answered as I threw another one to the water. "But I made a difference to that one." Source: back issue of Readers Digest@
